Ten ways to wear a crop top

This spring it's time to rev-up your ab workout: From weekend brunch-wear to an elegant evening outfit.

The Midi Skirt

This season midriffs aren't just for music festivals and the beach. For a polished look, pair an elbow-length top with a skirt that hits below the knee and ankle-strap heels.

The Boyfriend Jean

Dress-up slouchy denim with a loosely-knotted silk blouse and a pair of sexy stilettos. The tie allows you to decide how much of your stomach you want to expose before heading out of the house.

The Cut-Off

When wearing frayed or ripped shorts, pick a long-sleeve, lightweight sweater to avoid exposing too much skin. Add some extra height by swapping out worn kicks or sandals for a wedge sneaker.

The Pencil Skirt

Balance out a super skin-flasher with a demure pencil skirt: Look for one that extends past the knee and a few inches above the belly button. Finish it off with a cut-out sandal.

The Color Palette

The key to mixing prints is to stay within the same color family, like these muted taupes and gray-beiges. Pull off the pairing with nude sandals.

The High-Waisted Pant

Those nervous about showing any skin should pair a crop with high-waisted pants. The casual, slouchy feel of these pieces is easy to dress up with a classic pump.

The Tailored Short

The trend feels preppiest when done with classic shorts and flat brogues. Stick with cool, icy colors like crisp white and pale blue, and you're ready for the country club and most importantntly, do not wear ''corset'' like crop top with shorts.

The Formal Look

For an elegant affair, make a matched suit. Stick with a single color, and pair a structured-but-revealing blouse with a floor-length skirt. Sleek sandals ensure the combination feels young and sexy.

The Short Skirt

A playful flared skirt with a stretchy waist is perfect for customizing: Wear it above or at your natural waist to show as much skin as you'd like. Match with a simple tank and patterned pumps or on the other hand, you can combine a loose crop top with a short and tight skirt.

The Overall

Shy dressers can play around with the look by layering a stomach-flasher under a pair of on-trend short overalls. Keep the look pulled-together with a pair of crisp ankle boots.
